January - The Polar Bear Jump
Daring individuals dressed in costume jump into icy Resurrection Bay. Sponsors are acquired by the jumpers to raise money for the Alaska Division of the American Cancer Society.

May - Parade of Boats
A family friendly open house that features special events including a Boat Decorating Contest, Knot Tying and Sailboat Race Contests for the kids, Club Open House & Breakfast, Sidewalk Sales, Passport with Grand Prizes, Merchant's Treasure Chest and Prize Drawings.

July 4th / Mt. Marathon Race
On the Fourth of July each year, the population of Seward swells from around 2,500 to over 30,000. Main Street is completely blocked off to traffic and the streets fill with people. More info ... According to folklore, the tradition of the Mt. Marathon Race began when two sourdoughs argued about the possibility of climbing and descending the mountain in less than an hour. "Impossible" one said. To settle the argument, and the resulting wager, a race was held, with the loser to furnish drinks for the crowd. More info ...

August - Seward Silver Salmon Derby
The annual Seward Silver Salmon Derby draws anglers from around the world who try their luck at catching silver salmon and winning prizes totaling over $100,000.

December - The Holiday Train
The annual Holiday Train excursion leaves Anchorage at 7:00 a.m., and provides stunning Kenai Peninsula winter scenery that can't be seen from the highway. Take in Seward's Old Fashioned Christmas festival, and return to Anchorage at 9:30 p.m.
